Lucy Doolan, who represented New Zealand in 40 ODIs and 33 T20Is, has decided to call it a day after a professional career of 14 years. Her last appearance for the White Ferns was almost 6 years back in February 2013.

“The body doesn’t quite bounce back like it used to. And I think the plan was always to come back and play a couple more years after a few years off and then call it a day,” Doolan said in a statement.

Doolan, 31, made her debut for White Ferns against England in 2008. She scored 868 runs and took 60 wickets for New Zealand in international cricket. She was a part of the New Zealand team in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup in 2008-09 and 2012-13, and also represented her nation in ICC Women’s T20 World Cup in 2009, 2010 and 2012-13. Doolan was a part of three T20 title-winning campaigns for the Wellington team, she scored 3510 runs and took 172 wickets for her domestic side and will retire as a veteran of Wellington Blaze.

Doolan thanked Cricket Wellington for their support and said “The support that I’ve had from Cricket Wellington as part of the Blaze is amazing. They’ve probably spearheaded the support throughout the country in terms of backing women’s cricket, and I’ve seen that right from when I started playing cricket for Wellington as an 18-year-old.”
