Afghanistan mystery spinner Mujeeb ur Rahman will play for Middlesex in the upcoming Vitality T20 Blast beginning July 18, the club confirmed on Monday (February 11).
The 17-year old was part of the Hampshire setup last season and was a regular member of the team’s plans.
Mujeeb, a T20 globetrotter, is a hot favourite among teams for his ability to turn the ball both ways at pace. He has already established himself at the Big Bash League, Indian Premier League, Caribbean Premier League and Bangladesh Premier League.
“It is with great pleasure to say that Mujeeb has agreed to play for Middlesex in the Vitality Blast. His unique style of spin has proven to be difficult to play against and his record is outstanding in this format. I’m sure the staff and players at Middlesex are looking forward to working with him this seaon,” said Stuart Law, head coach of Middlesex.
Mujeeb, who claimed 12 wickets in the BBL 2018-19 at an economy rate of just 6.04, said he was looking forward to take the field at the Home of Cricket.
“I’m very pleased to sign for Middlesex for the Vitality Blast and it will be very exciting to play at Lord’s again. I hope we can be successful as a team.”
The youngster will be available for the full duration of the tournament which will end on September 21.
