Universe boss and West Indies opener Chris Gayle feels that Virat Kohli’s inspiring knock against England in the first Test at Edgbaston has given India the perfect start in the five-match series.
Virat Kohli had terrific performance with the bat on Day 2 of the first Test match against England
Indian run-machine Virat Kohli fought a lone battle for his side and scored 149 runsfrom 225 balls he faced. This innings will probably go down as one of the best the Kohli has played in whites with red ball in England.
As reported in India Today Virat Kohli cited that “I was busy with a shoot in Mumbai yesterday and only watched the highlights. It was a captain’s knock from Virat. The best part was how he batted with the tail. That is the perfect start you want in a series,”
“A knock like this, especially from the captain and lot have been said about his form in England and hopefully this knock will spur him and the team during the series,” Gayle said.
When asked if India could win the series against England, Gayle replied: “Why not? Aren’t they humans?”
“My plan is to play until 2020 World T20 in Australia.”
He is confident that he will be fit and ready for the 2019 World Cup next year.
“I will have to sit with the coaches and selectors and ask them about their plan. I am confident of playing the World Cup,” Gayle said.
